Nostalgic Advent bus services in Budapest
Advent bus service: This year, the red Ikarus 55 bus of Volánbusz Tatabánya will be the bus of choice for retro vehicle lovers during the Advent season. Dressed up in festive finery, the “faros” can be seen at the Népliget bus station in Budapest between 6 and 30 December 2024 and will make several trips to Budapest for sightseeing tours.
The Ikarus 55 bus, which has enriched the Volánbusz nostalgia fleet, has so far been used for numerous events and nostalgia trips. This year, it will be waiting for the young and old alike in its festive finery at Advent.
Ikarus 55
The Ikarus 55 was one of the Ikarus factory’s best-known and most successful coach types. Between 1953 and 1973, nearly 7,500 of these buses with 32-45 seats were produced (more than 3,700 were delivered to the Soviet Union and 2,300 to the German Democratic Republic). The legendary type earned the nicknames “tail” and “Bözsi” for its distinctive rear engine section and is still popular with fans of retro vehicles.
